Dear parents, When I was a teenager, at school the boys wore tight black chinos and loud plaid ‘cowboy’ shirts. The girls wore cotton dresses and bobby socks. When we went out, we were dressed up in a nice suit and the girls wore fancier dresses and bobby socks. Now, I”m ashamed to bring my grandchildren to a classy restaurant. They have nothing decent to wear, just their peer pressure impossible clothes their parents paid a fortune for. Can somebody explain how they got to pick what they picked? It’s even hard to tell the boys from the girls. No, I don’t think the schools should go back to wearing uniforms, but green hair? Here’s a poem I wrote about the new generation. Confused in Morristown.
The Dukes Of Hazzard (Season 3) DVD Review
By: Britt Gillette
In the late 70’s and early 80’s, television viewers fell in love with The Dukes Of Hazzard, a weekly foray into the fictional setting of Hazzard County, Georgia. Cousins Bo and Luke Duke (John Schneider and Tom Wopat) spent each episode trying to do good, while the loveable ?Boss? Hogg (Sorrell Booke) concocted various schemes for making money and having the Duke boys, who always foiled his plans, thrown in jail for violating their probation (the result of a deal with the federal government to end the centuries-old Duke family tradition of bootlegging).

Romancing The Stone Film Review
By: Andrew Conway
Romancing the Stone is an American 1984 action-adventure film.Directed by Robert Zemeckis, it stars Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito. This film was one of the best adventure/humor movies of the eighties. Not only did it boost the star rating of Michael Douglas, it helped launch Kathleen Turner into stardom. It also was Robert Zemeckis’s first box office hit as a director.
The plot of the movie revolves around romance writer Joan Wilder, played by Kathleen Turner, who travels to Colombia to find her kidnapped sister. In time she falls in love with a soldier of fortune [Michael Douglas] and the two become romantically involved as they search for a precious stone which the kidnappers want.
Plot: A forty-something preschool teacher looks to the personals for a change of pace and a relationship, with hilarious results.
Cast: Diane Lane, John Cusack, Elizabeth Perkins, Christopher Plummer, Dermot Mulroney, Stockard Channing, and more.
Rating: Rated PG-13 for sexual content.
My Thoughts: The movie was a very different type of love story. It was definitely entertaining, but there were times when I thought it was predictable. However, if you are looking for a movie that doesn’t require too much thought to enjoy, this is a good movie to see. It is a comedy so the movie often makes fun of situations that you or someone you know could be facing. However, sometimes this is exactly what is needed to get someone out of their slump and moving forward.

Thomas the Tank Engine gained the hearts of many children since the Railway Series of books first came out back in 1945, which isn’t surprising considering Thomas the Tank Engine books have sold about eighty million copies all around the globe. As a celebration of the series’ 60th anniversary, here is some history about Thomas the Tank Engine.
Back in 1943, little Christopher Awdry, a three years-old son of an Anglican clergyman named Wilbert Awdry, was suffering from scarlet fever. Due to the nature of the disease he was forced to remain in isolation. As a way to keep him entertained, his father started telling him several stories about a group of trains living out adventures and having fun together, and thus, Thomas the Tank engine was born.
Although the first music video ever broadcasted was ?Video Killed the Radio Star? played by MTV in 1981, some consider the music video to be much older than that year. It seems that the film Alexander Nevsky, directed by Sergei Eisenstein in 1938 had some extended images of battles which had been choreographed by Sergei Prokofiev. These new scenes were so innovative that they have lately been considered to be the first music video.

Urban Films
By: Sid Kali
Who is Sid Kali? I’ve written, directed, and produced two full-length urban features, CONSIGNMENT and IN WITH THIEVES, plus have a third feature in production titled STASH SPOT.
Some people feel that when you attach the word urban to an independent film the story will be based on slices of life that unfold in housing projects or the barrio. Which do provide rich and colorful backdrops that reflect a slice of americana.
