It seems for every year that goes by digital camera manufacturers are adding one more Megapixel (Mp) to their cameras. Could it be true that an existing 7 megapixel camera that?s on the market now had an equivalent model of 6 megapixels last year and 5 megapixels the year before that? Next year, will you see the same camera in an 8 megapixel version? Where will we be in another 10 years time?

But do we need the latest 8, 10 or even 12 megapixel camera? Well I have two answers for that question:

Portrait is defined as, ?A likeness of a person, especially one showing the face, that is created by a painter or photographer, for example.? In the area of portrait photography there are some guidelines that you should consider when you go to take photos of people.

The different types of portraits are: close-ups, facial shots, upper body shots or environmental portraits. Environmental portraits are where you focus on the subject and on their surroundings that provide more character to the subject.

Whenever you resize or edit a digital image, you should consider sharpening your image as a final step. If you sharpen first, and then edit your image further, you are likely to exaggerate the artifacts created as part of the sharepening process. Make sure you save your edited image with a different file name, or in a different folder than the original, in case better sharpening algorthims come along in the next few years - I burn my Original images to CD and also store them locally in an Original Photos folder. I place the edited versions in a Photo Editing folder.

The room is small, silent, damp and without light. The interior air is heavy and laden with chemicals, some of which could cause early death. The person inside receives no visitors. It is isolation.

Have I described a 19th century prison cell or a 21st century photographer’s darkroom ?

Those of us who have spent many hours in the agonizing yet captivating atmosphere of a photographic darkroom recognize the scene. We are compelled to witness –and direct– the birth pangs of each of our graphic creations. Yet all of us know it is contrary to human nature to confine oneself to such isolation and environmental danger. Such is the allure of the muse.

Digital Photography is all the rage when it comes to taking pictures. Unlike conventional cameras, the 35mm variety, you are able to view pictures immediately after you take them, decide whether or not you want to keep them and so much more. Also unlike 35mm cameras, digital cameras give you the ability to store your photos on a memory card, giving you the potential of taking literally hundreds of photos without running out of film.

Did you ever want your own recording studio, but always thought that this was just not possible given your budget? Indeed, many of the extra accessories are simply too expensive for the average starving musician, such as microphones, tracking material, speakers, sound-proofing. Fortunately, with today’s computer technology, much of the extra heavyweight equipment has become for the most part outdated. With today’s technology it’s now much easier to have a recording studio at home-with sounds that often match some of the best studios-simply by turning on your laptop, plugging in a cheap microphone and headset, and turning on the guitar.

And what can you do with these segments?

Advertise your work…on your own website, on a portal, on YouTube, Skidoo, My Space, and the many more spin-offs that are sure to come along.
